Special message from Mike Schablaske, executive director of Transform Rockford

The Region’s Goals Are Being Set – Right Now

Where we are – right now
Through ongoing vision sessions, the region’s goals are being discussed and established.  People are defining what a great Rockford region will be like.  These sessions are facilitated by Transform Rockford volunteers and take about 2 hours.

Vision sessions will conclude in late March.  At that point, the output of those sessions (viewable on online) will be condensed into a single shared vision in April, offered for public comment, and refined.

Where we are going

Consistent with standard strategic planning processes, the next step will be to form community teams to develop strategies and plans to achieve the goals.  That planning will likely conclude at the end of 2014.  Implementation of those plans will begin in 2015.

Think long term

Please understand – long-term planning and dramatic change does not happen overnight.  We must take time to make sure our plans are inclusive and transparent. We can do this together.   We must be persistent and resilient.  And we will have to treat one another with great respect and caring.

You are the pioneers

Thank you to the thousands around the region that have shared their thoughts, the hundreds of devoted volunteers, and dozens of organizations that have graciously hosted sessions.  You are the pioneers.

Engage in your community

Please consider participating in a visioning session if you have not already.  Your community could definitely use your voice and ideas. (seehttp://transformrockford.org/community-engagement)

WREX: Transform Rockford: Trying to change Rockford stories (Video)

WREX – February 26th, 2014

For Transform Rockford Executive Director Mike Schablaske, getting involved in the organization himself took deep thought.

But now through all the visioning sessions and community learning, Schablaske is “all in.”

In a sit-down interview with the leader, he admits the reach of Transform Rockford needs to spread. That was echoed by a few people in Wired Cafe.

Transform Rockford: Gen X & Y Vision Session

Change in our community will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

Folks in their 20′s, 30′s, and 40′s have a choice to make March 6.  It is a simple choice.

Either help shape the direction of our community or leave it to others to do it for you, your family, your business, your neighborhood, etc.

Register for the Gen X & Y Transform Rockford Vision Session today!
