A special thank you to the Rockford Police Department and the Rockford Fire Department for resolving the noisy situation in my neighborhood. A recently vacated building owned by an out-of-town credit union had an alarm ringing. It rang and rang. I thought someone would call and report it. No such luck. I called 911 and asked for the nonemergency number not wanting to take fire and rescue time from maybe something really serious. I gave the information. Nothing. It rang all night.
The next day I decided to call again 911 this time. Within a few minutes they arrived. Officer Turner explained the processes of securing the building and contacting the fire department who came promptly and turned off the alarm. The moral of the story — don’t wait for someone else to call when there is an alarm ringing. Call 911.
Thank you, Rockford Police and Fire departments for you service to our city!
