ROCKFORD (WREX) – On Friday night, the Rockford Art Deli hosted Transform Rockford for a special pop-up event.  The event highlighted all the things Transform Rockford is doing and the positive things happening in the city.

“Let’s elevate the pride and celebrate the good that’s going on here and celebrate our diversity,” said Transform Rockford Executive Director David Sidney.  There are so many people who are engaged in our community, getting us to be a top 25 community.”

Sidney says the night was also an opportunity for the organization to get people on board to lend a hand.

“Our volunteers are walking around with iPads and getting people signed up for volunteer orientation, and helping people figure out where they want to make a difference.”

When deciding where to do the event, Transform Rockford said Rockford Art Deli was the obvious choice since it’s a business that consistently promotes the city.

“For us, that’s our mission,” says Art Deli owner Jarrod Hennis.  “We want to make Rockford a better place. Make it better. We can only do that by engaging the community and making people more positive and proactive to make change rather than complaining on Facebook, going out and taking action.”

Transform Rockford says it will host roughly three or four more pop-ups throughout the year.  Their dates are still under wraps, but they’ll be spread out around the city.
