ROCKFORD (WREX)- Wednesday was a beautiful night to enjoy the weather in Rockford, one event downtown helped people burn calories while doing so.
The Move More Pop-Up was hosted by Transform Rockford in Davis Park.
It was originally scheduled for last weekend, but was postponed due to extreme heat.
Dozens filled the park to get in a workout guided by instructors. Kids also got the chance to play in the kid zone, where they tossed footballs and ran drills.
A Less Mill Bodypump class ran from 5:30 to 6:15, then urban line dancing from 6:15 until 7 Wednesday night.
“It’s a really cool environment,” said Katryna Kirby, Strategy and Communications Manager for Transform Rockford. “We have a great river that runs through our city, so why not have an event along the riverfront? It’s just something fun and unexpected. It brings the community together, that’s a huge thing too.”
The first 150 people received a free water bottle and protein bar.
Workout Wednesday’s will continue at Davis Park through August from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
