|The first community meeting for Transform Rockford was held at the Coronado Theater on November 14. 2013. With over 1,300 people in attendance, the “brutal facts” of the Rockford area were laid out and community members joined in a call to action for improving the living and working conditions in our region.
After months of holding visioning sessions where members of the Rockford community shared their thoughts and dreams, all of this information was tallied, gathered and discussed. From this we came up with OUR Community’s Vision. We are currently working on strategies to make OUR vision, OUR future.
Developed by the community, our shared values guide our thoughts, decisions and actions. They define how we treat each other as individuals and organizations. They guide us as our community determines where we want to be in shaping our future and the way we interact with each other. Shared values help us stay focused and on course for transformation.
Through broad and inclusive engagement our residents can be involved in the transformation of our region. The broad engagement of community members helps make the work of the transformation great. Our residents come together and work to shape the future of our community. They help navigate the process ensuring that everyone has a voice.
Our community’s shared vision unites us around a common goal by which we can all strive together to move our community forward. It was developed by our diverse residents and defines our desired future.
We are a top 25 community where our people are engaged, inspired and are leading successful and fulfilling lives.
Our community is recognized as one of the very best regions in which to live. Our residents are thriving and enjoying a superior quality of life. We have transformed our community by embracing our diversity, fostering a crime-free culture, and delivering an excellent education to all our children.
We have an agile, innovative and strong economy built on the renaissance of North American manufacturing, logistics, agribusiness and our adjacency to urban centers, such as Chicago. Our infrastructure is robust, our workforce is sought after, and our vibrant neighborhoods and cultural and recreational amenities draw people to locate in our region.
How do we get there? Our community’s vision is supported by twelve Impact Statements, which are the twelve focus areas our community highlighted. The impact statements provide the foundation for the work of our spoke teams.
